Gisborne ‘Stir a Cuppa with Seniors’ WEAAD 2023 event centred around the cutting of 5 strawberries and cream vanilla mudcakes, each one with buttercream frosting and representing a letter from WEAAD that stood for World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. Cakes were ‘officially’ cut by a leading member of the community: Ms JANET WOOD AM, founding Chair of Senior Rights Victoria and past President of COTA; Mr Gunther Behrendt, Gisborne Men’s Shed, officially awarded the Best Shed in Australia; Ms Judy Culpin, Gisborne CWA; Councillor Rob Guthrie, Macedon Ranges Shire Council; Mr Jack Harris OAMMacedon Ranges Shire Council’s Kyneton Town Hall lit up in purple for World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.Community Legal Education team at Victorian Legal Aid host a Stir a Cuppa with Seniors event for WEAAD 2023

Four participating cafes in Gisborne held their
‘Stir a Cuppa with Seniors’ in honour of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. The cafes participating were 3 Little Pigs, Kaffeine Bar and Gisborne Bakery & Café, with the launch to start the day held at the The Jolly Miller cafe. The morning was emceed by Mr Jack Harris OAM, Sunbury FM radio’s breakfast show presenter.
