World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is recognised every year on 15 June around the world, and this year Queensland advocates and allies are working to stop elder abuse with a free event open to all.
Caxton Legal Centre, Elder Abuse Prevention Unit, ADA Australia, Brisbane City Council, South Bank Corporation and OPALS (Older Persons Advocacy and Legal Service) have come together to host a mini expo day to shine a light on the issue of elder abuse, how to recognise it, and how to prevent it.
The event starts at 8.30am with official opening remarks and welcome. Keynote speakers, creative workshops, one-on-one advice from lawyers and social workers, talent shows, conversations, and free food and drinks will continue throughout the day. Join online or in person.
