Care Connect – WEAAD awareness campaign

To link in with World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) on Monday 15 June, Care Connect has developed an elder abuse awareness raising campaign to be implemented with the support of our service providers. The target is older aged clients receiving care at home. Our aim with this campaign is to reduce the risk of elder abuse amongst our older clients while linking our brand to this worthy cause.
The campaign will run for two weeks – one week either side of WEAAD on Monday 15 June. We are working in close partnership with nine of our quality service providers to reach as many of our older clients as possible over this period. Care workers from these service providers will be wearing Care Connect-designed WEAAD badges designed to prompt a conversation. Direct care workers from Diverse Community Care will also be supporting this initiative. We have provided each participating service provider with an Information Tool Kit to use in briefing care workers on elder abuse so they can answer any questions clients may have.
We will also be encouraging our staff to wear purple on Monday 15 June to show their support for this cause. With elder abuse and neglect often silently suffered by our older clients we are hoping that this campaign can make a real contribution to their lives.
